About the HUC-JIR Sakai CLE

Welcome to the HUC-JIR Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE). The Sakai online learning space allows faculty and students to have access to and manage all their course and project resources at any time and from any computer. This is a password-protected environment which requires all users to login.

Faculty and Student Passwords have been changed to match the ones you have just been issued for the SIS.  Please use those to login to Sakai.  If you have recently changed your password in the SIS, it may take a day or two to be updated in Sakai.  If you have any questions or problems please contact desupport@huc.edu.

About Sakai

Sakai is a Collaborative Learning Environment that utilizes a set of software tools specifically designed to help students, instructors, and staff create and participate in internet-based course, research and project sites. Our main goal is to enhance learning, communication and collaboration, as well as administrative efficiency and resource management. Using a web browser, any user (in the HUC-JIR community) can choose from a set of features that meets their particular needs. Examples of sites that can be created with the HUC-JIR Sakai CLE include:

• An instructor can utilize a course site that offers students a single environment for all of their course needs, e.g., online resources, announcements and calendars, electronic assignment submission, and student collaboration.

• A student can create a project or study group site to organize their work and resources and can invite classmates, mentors, and (even) the instructor at their discretion.

• A Program Director or Committee Chair can create a site to make announcements, share resources such as documents or annotated links, and maintain a group/team calendar.

Sakai software is part of the Sakai Project, an open source, research and development, community-based effort of colleges and universities around the world dedicated to creating open, collaborative learning tools for use in higher education.
